James Dickerson, 65 of Danville, Ill died suddenly of a heart attack at Rockfield cemetery
near Veedersburg Sunday afternoon while assisting at the funeral of Leonard Wall of
Cayuga. Mr. Dickerson was an employee of the Neff Vault Company of Danville and was
assisting in the installation of a cement burial vault for the Wall burial. Coroner
Wisher Myers of Veedersburg, who investigated, learned that Mr. Dickerson had been ill
with influenza about two weeks ago and it was thought that he went back to work too soon
after his sickness. He was reported never to have suffered from heart trouble in the
past. H.C. Fishero, Veedersburg undertaker, who was standing near Mr. Dickerson at the
cemetery, said that he seemed to be in good spirits until he suddenly murmured two or
three words and fell backward on the pile of earth by the grave. The body was removed to
a Danville Funeral home with services on Wednesday.
