Jesse Bever was found in the 1860 Washington Township, Ringgold County, Iowa census. He
was 8 years old, son of Michael Bever b. 1812 Ohio and Eleanor A. Bever, b. 1819, also
Ohio.
Listings included Bevers, Beavers, and Beevers, but I think they had migrated
simultaneously through Ohio earlier and were all essentially related, just separated by
choice through spelling, perhaps religion/politics. I am distantly related to the

"Atchison Township" -- Jesse Bever, Sec 3, post office Burlington Junction. The
subject of this sketch is a native of Fountain County, Indiana and was born Oct 6, 1852.
When one year old, he was taken to Ringgold County, Iowa where he was raised in the
occupation he now follows. In 1869, he moved to this state and county and settled in his
present location. He has 160 acres of land as good as any in the township, all of which is
under cultivation. Mr. Bever was married Oct 11, 1869 to Miss Emma McMIllan, a native of
Indiana. They have two children, Estella and Fred. Mr. Bever is school director of this
district.
