Perrysville --- Robert O. Gibson, owner of Gibson Motor Co., in
Perrysville and partner with his brother, C. R. Gibson in Gibson Motors
in Dana, died at 2:20 a.m. Thursday at his residence, Rt. 1, Perrysville
after a seven-month illness. He was 58. His death came in the
same home where he was born April 9, 1909, to Frank and Leona Langley
Gibson. his marriage Feb. 12, 1948, was to Dorothy DeWitt, who survives. Also
surviving are five sons, Robert D., Frank, William, Richard and Larry,
all at home; a daughter, Bonita, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Wood,
Clinton, Mrs. Margaret Anderson, Perrysville, and Mrs. Mary Hughes, Rt.
1, Perrysville; four brothers, William J., Ferndale, Mich., Donald R.,
Rt. 4, Danville, Ill., Harry L., South Bend, and C.R., of Dana, and
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his
parents and two brothers. He was a graduate of Perrysville High
School and a life resident of the community. He had operated the auto
agency for Dodge, Plymouth and Saab in Perrysville since 1946. He
was a member of Gessie EUB Church, Unity Lodge 344, F&AM at
Perrysville, Walter Hoyt Post 350, American Legion, Perrysville, and the
Perrysville Lions Club of which he was first president.
He
served in the Air Force during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Final
rites will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home
with Rev. Dale Jackson and Rev. Donald True officiating. Burial will be
in Hicks Cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted 8 p.m. Friday
at the funeral home and Military rites will be conducted at the
graveside by Walter Hoyt Post 350. Friends may call at the
funeral home Friday afternoon and evening.
