Journal Review 21-Jul-1962 5- Everett Kay, 79, Is Found Dead In Hillsboro Home-
HILLSBORO- Everett Kay, 79, a resident of Hillsboro for 33 years, was found
dead in bed at 4:30 a.m. Saturday in his home here. He had suffered a heart
attack Friday morning but appeared to have been recovering. He was discovered
by his wife. Born Sept. 28, 1882, in Paris Crossing, his parents were Thomas
and Lucy Sawyer Kay. On April 3, 1912, he married Julia Smith in Wingate. He
was a member of the Newtown Baptist Church and served with the United States
Army in the Philippines from 1905 to 1908. The couple first lived in Newtown
and then later moved to Hillsboro. He worked at a telephone lineman until his
retirement several years ago. Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas Kay of
San Antonio, Tex.; two daughters, Doris Crane of Indianapolis and Maurine Kay
of Monrovia, Calif.; a brother, Walter Kay of Deputy; a sister, Clara Alston of
Macon, Ga.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services
will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Crumley Funeral Home here. Rev. George
Phelps of Newtown will be in charge. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery
here. Friends may call at the funeral home.
