Mrs. Josephine Akin, 73, widow of James Akin, died Friday morning in Culver Hospital at
Crawfordsville where she had been a medical patient 10 days. Death was attributed to a
heart ailment. Born Dec. 28, 1888, near Mellott, Mrs. Akin was the daughter of Elias and
Margaret Smith Riley. She married Mr. Akin March 3, 1917. The husband died May 7, 1940.
Mrs. Akin was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church. She had resided in Hillsboro
since 1939. Survivors include a brother, Irvin Riley of Mellott; a sister, Mrs. Carrie
Gott, also of Mellott and 15 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30
p.m. Sunday in the Crumley Funeral Home at Hillsboro. Burial will be at Rose Hill
Cemetery. Rev. Ross Kirk, pastor of the Hillsboro Christian Church, will be the
officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday afternoon and Saturday
evening.

HILLSBORO- Rev. Ross Kirk, pastor of the Hillsboro Christian Church, officiated at the
funeral service of Mrs. Jopsehine Akin at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro Sunday
afternoon. Organ music was given by Mrs. Carol Myer. Serving as pallbearers and assisting
with the flowers were nephews, Harvey Duncan, Lowell Duncan, Murray Gott, Walter Gott,
Alfred Harris and Wayne Riley. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.
