Crawfordsville Journal Review 27-Oct-1962 5- Maurice L. Cory, Retired Kingman Postmaster,
Dies- KINGMAN- Maurice LaVern Cory, 75-year-old retired Kingman postmaster, died at his
home here Friday evening after an illness of six months. Mr. Cory served as postmaster
here for 34 years before his retirement in April of 1957. He also was a registered
pharmacist and with his father operated a drug store here for 40 years. Born April 15,
1887, at Harveysburg, he was a son of Jeremiah and Elinor Minser Cory. He was married to
Maude Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. Cory celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary several years
ago. Mr. Cory was a member of the Kingman Masonic Lodge, Low 12 of Rockville and Wallace,
and Scottish Rite of Indianapolis. Survivors include his wife; a brother, Wayne Cory of
Veedersburg; a sister Mrs. Kate Hudson of Rockville; a granddaughter, Mrs. Peggy Horn of
Hobart, who was reard in the Cory home; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by a daughter, four brothers and sister. The body is at the Woodrow Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

Funeral services for Maurice Lavern (Davy) Cory will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the
Woodrow Funeral Home here. Rev. Eugene Rapson will be in charge and will be assisted for
Rev. Robert Carey. Burial will be in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. Friends may pay their
respects at the funeral home. Mr. Cory, retired Kingman postmasters and drug store
operator, died Friday night at his home here.
