Hillsboro, Dies- HILLSBORO- Harry W. Rice, 63, died at his Hillsboro home at 7:30 a.m.
Tuesday after a long illness. Mr. Rice had lived in the Hillsboro vicinity all his life.
He was born Jan. 5, 1899, at Hillsboro, the son of William and Bertha Davis Rice. He
married Marian B. Cooper of Hillsboro in Covington on Oct. 4, 1920. Mr. Rice was a farmer
near Hillsboro for many years and moved into Hillsboro when he retired 19 years ago. He
was a member of the Congregational Christian Church at Mellott. Survivors include the
wife; two sons, Merlyn, at home, and Emery Z. of Lafayette; a brother, Melvin D. Rice of
Indianapolis, and three grandsons. A son, William E. Rice, was killed in a plane crash in
Hawaii in 1948 while he was in the service. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2
p.m. at the Hillsboro Methodist Church. Rev. Ron Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in
Rose
Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro. Friends may call at the Crumley Funeral Home at Hillsboro
Wednesday afternoon and evening.
