Crawfordsville Journal Review 2-Apr-1963 2- Joseph Ingersoll Dies At Capital At The Age Of
89- INDIANAPOLIS- Joseph B. E. Ingersoll, 89, resident of Indianapolis for over 50 years,
died Tuesday morning at 8 o’clock in the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Mr. Ingersoll
was born April 27, 1873, in Fountain County, son of James and Christine Keeling Ingersoll.
He was married to Elizabeth McCormick March 23, 1892. She preceded him in death Aug. 26,
1927. Mr. Ingersoll worked for the Union Stockyards in Indianapolis as a stock buyer for
many years. He retired from the Union Stockyards on his 80th birthday. He was raised in
the Waynetown community and was a member of the former Ingersoll Chapel Church in that
vicinity. In December 1959 he became of 50-year member of the Waynetown Masonic Lodge.
Survivors of Mr. Ingersoll include a daughter, Mrs. Leslie Hole of Crawfordsville; two
grandsons, Leslie Ingersoll in the U.S . Navy and John Ingersoll in the U.S.
Army; two granddaughters, Mrs. Jean Moore and Mrs. Charles I. Cox of Crawfordsville,
eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a
son, Hugo, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m.
at the Bright Funeral Home. Rev. John R. Servies will officiate. Burial will be in the
Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
