Sharon, your mention of a history of Fountain County prompts me to ask if you would look
for any Rileys in the county during the pre-and post-Civil War era. I'm particularly
interested in Thomas and Elizabeth Riley family. They had children Elizabeth, Genetta (or
Janetta), Charles (my grandfather), Anna, Mary (who died at age 6 yrs and is buried in
Davis Cemetery, Fountain Co.), and Thomas Francis.
I'd really appreciate anything you could find about the family.
The elder Thomas is my brick wall. He elisted in Indiana in Dec 1863 and was mustered
out at Raleigh NC in Apr 1866. He moved the family to Kansas sometime after the war. His
enlistment shows he was born "near Dublin" Ireland and apparently came to the US
about 1847.
Thanks for anything you might find on any Rileys in the county about that time.
Don't know if he had siblings who might have been in the area or not.
My sister has visited the Davis Cemetery but failed to find a stone of any kind for Mary
although she has been listed in the cemetery records.
Regards,
Jan
