Funeral Services Held for Forrest Livengood 66
Funeral services for Forrest E Livengood, Age 66 a native of Covington
and a member of the Fountain County Bar Association who died Sunday morning,
August 5 at St Elizabeth Hospital in Effingham, Ill. were held at 2:30
o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial
was in the family lot at Stewardson Cemetery about 12 miles from Effingham.
Mr Livengood was born in Covington, Aug 5 1890 the son of Valentine E and
Ida Johnson Liviengood. He was graduated from Covington High Community
High School with the class of 1908 and from Indiana University and the
I. U. School of Law in 1912. Immediately after graduation from law school
Mr Livengood began practicing with his father.
He was active in Democratic politics and was secretary to Mrs Virginia
E Jackson, former congresswoman from the sixth district. He also was wartime
officer of Price Administration rent director at Lafayette and Evansville.
He served in this capacity until the office was disbanded.
Mr Livengood was a member of the Indiana State Bar Association. He also
was a World War I veteran and served with the Army at Washington. He was
a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Elks Lodge and the Fulton Banta Post
291, American Legion of Covington. He suffered his first heart attach in
September 1946 and his ninth one several weeks ago. He had been in and
out of the hospital several times in the past several months and death
was attributed to a hemorrhage.
He is survived by one daughter Mrs James (Bettijane) Abrams of Abilene,
Texas, ; three grandchildren; and two half-brothers Bryant D Livengood
of Covington and Charles V Livengood of Richmond.
