Just thought I'd let you all know that I'm on a maybe week hiatus (bet Jeff is saying GOOD so he can catch-up) while I'm organizing, copying, typing a huge stack of letters to, from and about my cousin, Clayton Morgan who was KIA in the Korean War. What a fascinating task. I'm organizing them for his nephew and namesake -- I was so lucky to get to see these and get to know him. He was only a name in my family tree maker before and now I really seem to know him -- also I found one letter from my mother (thoroughly expected to find them from my grandmother, Clayton's aunt but so far not) -- anyone knowing me personally (or getting to know me via the lists) will believe this - by the way I lacked a few days of turning one when Mom wrote this to Clayt.
From: Kate & Freddie Bazzani (she is 1st cousin to Clayton) - Box 63, Waveland, Ind. - Hi, Clayt: Kinda figured maybe you might be a little lonesome and would enjoy a few lines. Not much news around here to write about. Freddie is still at Goodmans but has high hopes of getting the Mail Carrier job here. It takes forever - they go thru your whole life's history and of course theres a couple others trying hard to get it. Freddie and the twins have been attending all the basketball games. Waveland has really got a hot team this year. They haven't lost a game yet They're playing some of the bigger teams this year. Rockville - and we beat Fillmore the other nite. You know they're the ones that beat Waveland by a couple points in the tourney last year. But we won the county. Last Wed. Nite Freddie & I went to see Sonja Henie. It was wonderful -seems it was better this year than we've ever seen it. Then on Fri nite we took Mom & Sis. Hired a babysitter. While they went to see Sonja and just horsed around. Do you get weekend liberty? If so, I suppose you get to see some shows. We've seen a few good ones lately. My Blue Heaven, Frontier Girl and To Please a Lady. You should see Karen. She is just about as rough as the boys. She's got a stick ("MY butt tanner' for the boys), and she chases them with it and just about gets the bets of them. That gals a corker! Well Clayt do write us even if its just a line or two and let us know how you are and all about army life. We'll write you often if you'll just drop us a line (even a line on a post card would do) once in awhile so until then - so long, Cousins Kate & Freddie.
Thanks Lena for typing this one :)
