Please excuse my brain hiccup......the family I am looking for is the Davis family (should be several) not the Shanes. They lived in Cain Township. Thanks for you assistance and am sorry for the time that was wasted looking for the Shanes!

I have a copy of page 409 from "History of Fountain Co." (Indiana)by HW Beckwith pub. 1881, which states "He had five boys & five girls, seven of whom are living, three in Fountain Co."
The 1840 census for Sugar Creek, Parke Co. IN has David WATT 2 males under age 5, 1 male 10-15, 2 males 15-20, 1 male 40-50 (David) and 2 females 5-10, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 15-20, 1 female 30-40 (Sarah). This is a total of 9 children.
The family supposedly moved to Montgomery Co. IN abt. 1850, but I haven't been able to find them on the 1850 censuses for Mongomery Co IN or Scioto Co. OH.
I only have 5 children for this couple:
James b. 1824 Scioto Co. OH
Margaret b. 1829 Indiana
Mary "Polly" b. 1835 Indiana
Michael b. 1836 Indiana
Elizabeth b. 1841 Parke Co. IN
Any help with matter would be greatly appreciated!!

i found an interesting site where pape funeral home in danville, illinois has a website. many times we can't find the burial sites of our indiana families because they moved to vermillion county, illinois. the site says that they are adding more names everyday. there are also some indiana cemeteries listed where the people are buried. maybe you'll get lucky and find someone you are hunting for! good luck!
