simon minick's mother's name was catherine favorite shover minick. catherine died in 1824. simon was born in 1822. i don't know when john shover was born. when that was would determine if catherine was his sister or aunt or maybe cousin. simon lived in van buren township in a town called stone bluff. didn't john live in logan township which was attica? i've been to a lot of cemetarys and the name john shover seems familiar. next trip to attica i will check out the cemetarys for him.

hi mae, the fountain-warren county health department has the records for births and marriages. it is located in attica, indiana. phone number is 765 762-3035. now that is where the records are, but i think the court house in the clerk's(?) office is where you'd have to get a copy. ask them at the attica place for sure. i know when my kids started school they had to have a copy of their birth certificate and i had to go to the state they were born, which was illinois, town they were born, danville....went to the vermilion county court house in danville and got the copys i needed. if i am wrong, someone correct me.
I have a copy of a marriage license for Hugh Davis and Sarah Huffman issued Fountain County, December 6, 1853. These licenses are recorded two to a page. This is not my family line.
If anyone has any interest in having this, please let me know.

Sharon, thank you for the information about Henry Nave of Logan. I am looking for a Henry Nave who married my great grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Caplinger in Tippecanoe Co. You have eliminated this Henry for me . In the 1880 Census, I found about 15 possibilities in the whole country. I really appreciate your help and by letting me know about this Henry, I can go on and look for the other possibilities. Thank you ever so much for your time and interest. Sincerely, Ruth

Thanks again. My facination lies in the fact that the male in the photograph resembles my brother so much. I believe it is one of George's kids, unless J.W.Ennis's father operated such a stop, because I have a death date of around 1828 for George Hollingsworth. And information leading me to believe that a couple of his older children remained in Attica, along with Cousins. Interesting to say the least. I love a mystery, thanks for the extra story. Any time you want to mention anything I am willing to listen up! By the way my Aunt LaNelle (Hollingsworth) married a Vern Roberts of Knoxville, Iowa, if your interested? LLH

Thank you so much for this information. Those dates were what I was hopeing for. The picture I believe is of George Hollingsworth (b) 1784 and his wife Mary Cox's children. The clothing also fit that time frame. Thanks again, LaDema
Hi,
I hope that the following inf. will help me find my "lost" Brown
ancestors. My gggrandfather Staten/Slaten/Slater Brown was born about
1799 in North Carolina, Tennessee or Virginia. He had several children,
including a daughter named Mary who was born about 1830 in Indiana.
Staten Brown married Penelope Ruby (2nd wife)? and their youngest child
Christina Brown was born about 1860 in Illinois.
The 1880 census for Logan, Fountain Cnty., Indiana shows the
following:
Jeremiah Busenbark, age 57, b. in Ohio
Mary Busenbark, wife, age 50, b. in Indiana
Jasper Busenbark, son, age 21, b. in Indiana
Reden Busbenbark, son, age 10, b. in Indiana
Mary Cedars, daughter, age 11, b. Indiana
Christina Brown, other, age 19, b. Illinois
Was Mary Busenbark the sister of Christina Brown? I have hit a brick
wall in researching my Brown family and hope that this will open some
doors for me.

Tom,
It might be possible that James Campbell is buried in Rose Hill
Cemetery in Hillsboro, since his father John was married to Malinda
Frazier, I know the Fraziers are buried there.
Regards,
Tom Hesler

are you sure james is buried in rockfield cemetary? i walked it today and didn't find it (my uncle wasn't home). i also looked in the rockfield listing at the library and didn't find him. now i really want to ask my uncle!
I am trying to trace 2 of my lines back from Fountain Co., IN. Moses Fountain and David Nowles (David's sister Elizabeth md Moses) were issued a patent on the SE fraction of the E Half of section 28 in township 21 N Range 8 W in the District of lands office for sale at Crawfordsville, IN on 10 April 1829. I have found them listed as from Ohio and New York in different censuses. Any information that might give me additional clues would be greatly appreciated.
