It has been my experience in Floyd county to find many obituaries listed
exactly one year before the death dste on the stone. This was mainly during
the Civil War years. Evidently, few records were accurately kept, if at
all. I don't believe a death could be predicted, therefore I would believe
a newspaper account would be likely more correct than a marker, which could
be erected any time after the death. I could be wrong in my opinion. But
the newspapers are dated.

So did she die in 61 or 62 was she 27 or 28? Which is wrong the paper or
the headstone? If it's the headstone that makes this even more
interesting. imagine it's was carved wrong? did they use it anyway or was
it throw out and redone. If redone Could the burial location be wrong all
together? If redone was this site the actual carving location as well or
instead of. Also the dearest sister section of the stone. Does this mean
her brother issued the stone not her husband.? So is her husband already
dead or no longer in the picture.? Other point I like to mention. The
history associated with freedomland in 1861 or 1862 is that poor black
people escaping the south and slavery are buried here. This stone is
exquiste, how did they afford such a luxury. I know James Porter did a lot
to help, did this also include paying for all funereal, and burial expenses.?
