The Peter and his wife Christina are ok. Peter is my gr grandfather's brother. He
came to USA about 1846. He married Christina Brucker before 1849, because their first
child John Hofmeister was born then.
At about the same time a sister of Peter Hofmeister and her husband came to USA and
setteled in New Albany Floyd County Indiana. Her name was not given in the obituary of
William Hofmeister, another brother in Adams County Illinois. William died in 1916 and
said he still had a sister living in Indiana at the time of Williams death.
Most all the Hofmeister's came to the USA after Peter. They all came through New
Orleans, and went to stay with Peter Hofmeister. They then went up the Mississippi River
to Illinois. The reason they stayed with Peter was so he could teach them the cooper
trade. Cooper's were barrell makers.
Thats all I know. This is a brick wall that I have been trying to break for a long
time.

Hi, Could this be the ones you seek? She would have been quite old in 1916 though.
Clark is next to Floyd. I did not find a female in Floyd that was born in Europe. This
is from the 1880 and 1920 census. I used HeritageQuest. Earl M.

Hi June,
Do you have access to Ancestry.com? I would do a census search in the 1910 and 1920
census using her first name, approximate birthdate, and country of birth.
If you don't have Ancestry, let me know the details and I'll see if I can find her
for you.

How would you begin to look for a female who came to America after she was married and
you don't know the mans name? She, without mentioning her name, is mentioned in her
brothers obit as still alive in Floyd Co Indiana. Also in my gr uncles obit as his
sister, still alive in 1916 in Floyd Co Indiana. Her maiden name was Hofmeister. It has
been seen as Hoffmeister and Hoffmaster.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
June
