Hi Becky,
Thanks for the reply ! I have found quite a bit since my post. But there still a lot
blanks to fill in.
Since my original post I discovered that my GGF Edward Harris Sr. was married to Mary
Ellen "Mollie" Muleady.
I had been under the mistaken impression that her name may have been Malley because of
handwritten info on my grandfathers death record ( Edward Jr.) only listed his mothers
name as what appeared to be Malley. Which I took to be her last name.
I later came across the marriage record for my grandfather and some of his other siblings
in Clark Co. IN.. And learned from those that Mary E. was Mary Ellen. And found some
records that actually had her listed as Mollie or Molley. And also her maiden name was
actually either Meleady, Muleady. And one record even had it as McCleaty...
So ironically the name I thought for several years may have been a last name... was
actually a misreading of the name everyone must have called her. "Mollie".
Which of course at that time was a common Irish nickname for Mary.
Actually I have been lucky enough to find several records for Mary since my post. And even
finally found the family on the 1900 census living in Louisville. ( I discovered the
reason I could never find them previously on the 1900 census was that the census had their
name erroneously listed as Harrison).
But personal info about Edward Sr. has been alluding me. I had hoped to find a copy of
his death certificate to verify his actual birth and death dates. (His year of birth and
location seem to vary on different census records). Along with hopefully his parents
names. But I have had no luck finding any documentation actually linking them.
I have a strong suspicion as to possibly his parents identities. But nothing concrete.
Only a lot of circumstantial evidence I have accumulated over the years.
If you can help with filling in any of the blanks... I would greatly appreciate it ! And
of course any info I have found on them that you might be interested in ... I would be
more than happy to share.
Many thanks !
Ray
