thank you, yes I think it is also the problem is that I cant figure out what Alice
Chappell and Justus Brunton were doing in Benton co. ARk. Sure thru me for a loop to
find this, that's the reason I ask for a lookup in Floyd co. hoping that it might
just be another couple but with the same names. I have a query out there also. A
little background might explain it better. Lydia Alice Bryant married a James Chappell
in 1887 in Daviess co. Ky. the story the family was told was that James and Alice were on
their way to MO in a covered wagon and James drowned on the way there. But then again
another story was told that he died of lead poisoning as he was a house painter. His and
Alice last child was born around 1893. SO MY theory is this, Justus Brunton was Alice
cousins, they had known each other all their lives of course, so Alice and James are on
their way to MO and James dies and she gets a hold of Justus and he goes and gets her to
bring her and the ki!
ds home. He is unmarried and before they left Benton co. they get married so that they
could travel together. and he brings her to Indiana in 1900 and by 1930 they are back in
Meade co. where both of them started out life. My husbands grandfather was James first
son and Alice second son and he was born in Tenn. But he and his wife were married in
Floyd co. Indiana. Amber the son said that he remembered them going to MO in the covered
wagon and that his dad drowned. Alice might have told a different story. Amber died in
1944 so I never met him and Alice died in 1933. My husbands aunt was the only one old
enough to remember her grandmother and any stories she might have told and she was the
one who told me both stories. Sorry long winded. I just have to figure out why they
were in Benton co. if its them. Witnesses to their marriage might go a long way to
telling me if its them.
Thanks for listening and Thanks for your help. I thought maybe I was crazy when I found
this.
