Hi. I should probably mention that the records I copied didn't date quite as far back
as the dates your lost relative was perhaps in Floyd County. The earliest record I copied
was from 1868, and I checked several pages but I didn't see a Frederick (or Fred) of
any last name on my pages ... The New Albany library has records of poor farm
"inmates" going back as early as 1866, I think. I made a copy of info on the
Poor Farm, and it said that the county (New Albany) secured a 140-acre farm w/a log house
to place the county's poor. A log addition was added in 1842. Around 1850, 167 acres
was leased 3 miles north of the city, and a frame house was erected there to house the
county's poor. A new brick structure was built in 1878. That structure was burned in
the early 1900s, and a new brick structure built to replace it ... The area surrounding
the building is now a public park. I have posted some pictures of the area to my family
tree -- see Carrie / Clarah Lent. I'm sorry I can!
't be of more help ... can't rule it out completely, but doesn't seem too too
likely.
