Message Board Post:
I am searching for information about the place of death and burial of Asa
Mann, born 1769 in Rhode Island; m. Freelove CLARKE in 1823, likely in New
York; d. 1853, last of Floyd Co., Indiana.
Freelove CLARK(E), born 1781; d. 1848, likely in Floyd Co., Indiana.
Reportedly, Freelove was the daughter of Jeremiah and Sarah WANTON Clarke.
Asa Mann, aged 80 years, is enumerated in the 1850 census of New Albany,
Floyd Co., Indiana. Residing with Asa is Walter Mann, believed to be Asa's
son by his marriage to Freelove. Walter's wife, Elizabeth, and their young
daughter, Cornelia, are enumerated there as well. Asa Mann possesses real
estate worth $12,000. Walter Mann, born circa 1827 in New York, is listed as
a merchant.
In the 1860 census, Walter Mann is again enumerated in New Albany, Floyd
Co., Indiana. By 1870, Walter and his family are residing in St. Paul,
Minnesota.
Any information about the ancestors of Asa Mann (1769-1853) or information
about his place of death and burial would be much appreciated.
