Floyd County birth/death registers on microfilm
The Indiana History Room has Floyd County birth registers on microfilm dated 1882-June
1925 (city health office) and 1882-August 1926 (county health office).
We also have Floyd County death registers on microfilm dated 1882-1959 (both city health
office and county health office).
Although the state of Indiana required registration of births and deaths to begin in 1882,
it took some time before ALL births and deaths were actually recorded.
There are book indexes to Floyd County births 1882-1920 and to Floyd County deaths
1882-1960's.
Please be aware that registration of births and deaths sometimes was complete on one page,
but many times consisted of two or three pages of information. For this reason, several
prints may need to be taken in order to copy everything.
Parents' names, birthdates, and places of burial are sometimes, but not always, given.
Birth registrations often do not give the first name of the child.
Copies can be made from this microfilm for 10 cents per print plus postage. We can make up
to 8 prints per month for an individual. (This includes prints of newspaper items found in
our online newspaper index.)
