*New Albany Daily Ledger*18 Sep 1867 p2 c1:
Funeral of Capt. Hez. Stran. The remains of Capt. Hez. Stran arrived in this
city from Memphis yesterday afternoon, where he died on the 14th inst.,
and were interred this morning by Hope Lodge No. 83, and Jerusalem
Encampment No. 1, I. O. O. F., of which institutions he had long been a
member.
Capt. S. was for a number of years connected with the steamboat interest of
the Ohio,
and has command of several steamers, but for several years past has been
engaged in merchandising and at the time of his death, we believe, was
engaged as principal
salesman in the house of the Messrs. Lowenthall, Memphis. He was an active,
enterprising gentleman, and had drawn around him a circle of friends and
acquaintances who will learn
of his death with regret.
Marker in Fairview Cemetery reads:
Capt. H. B. Stran
