*Peter Klerner* – Placed on Board of Cemetery Regents – The board of
regents of Fairview cemetery met last week and canvassed the vote cast in
the election of July 8 for two regents to succeed judge *Alexander Dowling*and
*Henry Goetz*, whose terms had expired. Both were re-elected but a letter
was read last week from Mr. Goetz in which he “declined to serve on the
board on account of his continued absence from the city. He has been located
in Chicago for the past year. Mr. *Peter Klerner *was elected in his stead.
In the re-organization of the board the officers elected were as follows:
President, *George A. Newhouse*, *Sr.*; Vice President, *Charles Day*;
Secretary, Judge *Alexander Dowling*; Treasurer, *Frank W.* *Peters*;
Assistant Treasurer, *George Borgerding*; Superintendent, *G. L. Kelly*;
Clerk, *George* *W. Dorsey*. Reports were made for the year showing the
cemetery to be in good condition. The addition between Fourth and Fifth
street north of Culbertson avenue will be opened this fall. As soon as the
grading is finished it will be platted into burial lots. A stone coping will
be placed on the wall and a hedge will be planted. The entrance to the
cemetery will remain at the head of Sixth street as at present and all
business will be transacted at the office at the entrance. Funeral corteges
will continue to enter the cemetery by way of the Sixth street gate but exit
gates will be placed on Fourth and Fifth streets by which the corteges can
leave the new addition.
