Message Board Post:
am seeking any information on the Franklin and Eliza (Kent) Allen family of Madison,
Jefferson County IN. Franklin was b. in 1805 in KY. Place of birth and parents are
unknown. Eliza Kent was b.1811 in New York and her father was most likely David Kent.
Frank and Eliza had 5 children as of the 1850 census. John W. b. 1832, David M.b.1834,
Eliza A. b. 1840, Hannah Le b.1845 and Orinda K. b.1846. Frank and Eliza are buried in
Fairmount Cemetery in Madison.
Hannah Le married John M. Aigner of Madison and had Frank,Albert, Percy and Norvall twins,
and Belle.
John W. had Grover, Charley, George, and John and lived in Jefferson County. John W. is
buried in Fairmount Cemetery in Madison.
David M. had John W., Frank, William, Joseph and Charles and lived in Floyd County, IN.
This Allen family is of Native American descent but I do not know which tribe or nation. I
have a very old tin type of Hannah Le Allen and an old picture of her as an older woman
and the Native American is quite evident as it was in her grandson, my grandfather.
However, it is possible that some Allen descendants don't know that they are Native
American or perhaps it is just a family rumor in their family.
I have extensive information back to 1624 in Germany and Austria on the Aigners which only
descend from John M. Aigner's father Christain Aigner, Jr. who was born in Beaver
County, PA and was part of the Harmonite Community there. Christian was the only son of
this Aigner line from Germany and his son John M. was the only son to have children except
for his brother Gideon Aigner who died as a result of the Civil War and his only son
Gideon Aigner, Jr. was raised by John M. and Hannah Le Aigner.
I would love to hear from anyone who has any information on this Allen line from Jefferson
County or Floyd County and I will share Aigner information with anyone who connects with
this Aigner line. Thanks, Janet H.
