Dear Joyce
I was wondering if the Dreyer's in your Haag family were in Floyd County Indiana?
I am researching Edmund (Edward sometimes) Dwyer who married a Sarah Carey in Floyd,
County Indiana. I noticed from the church records that the last name Dwyer was not spelled
the same way throughout. On baptisms of Edward's children and census it has been
spelled Dweyer, Doyer, Duier, Dwier and Dreyer. The census mentions that neither Edward or
his wife could read or write, which explains the differences. I notice that there are
primarily two groups of Dwyers in New Albany during the 1850's onward. They appear to
have stood as sponsors for the various children baptised. I can follow Edmund and his
children through Indiana. I'm trying to see if my Edward is related to the other
Thomas, Edward and Denis that were in the city at the same time. Any ties you might see
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Stacy
