Funeral Tuesday for W. T. Collins
William T. Collins, 86, died Saturday night at St. Edward’s Hospital
He suffered a stroke several days ago at his home, 620 (or 820) E. Main.
Collins was vice president of the American Bank and founder of the W.
T. Collins and Sons Company in New Albany. Collins was one of the organizers
of the bank in 1931 and was on the board of directors at the time of his
death. He and son, Ray Collins had operated a transfer company in New
Albany that was engaged in moving explosives.
Collins was active in civic affairs in New Albany for many years and
was a Republican party leader here, serving on the board of jury
commissioners and on the old metropolitan police commissioners board. He was
president of the board of regents of Fairview Cemetery, and served on the
board of the First Presbyterian Church for a number of years.

Fairview Cemetery.
Survivors: half-brother Frank Banholzer, New Albany, and a
half-sister, Mrs. Mary Ogden, Sellersburg.
