Hi Toney,
Re: Nancy Anna Sillings Engleman information.
Sadly, things were forgotten that should not have been forgotten. Old Engleman Cemetery
was sold from family posession @ 1858. Through the years, cemetery was badly vandalized
and encroached upon. Current owners can be credited with much of restoration and have
taken great efforts to research and put pieces back together, where possible. Original
square mile farm apparently included site of Floyd Central High School. Cemetery is on
hill above spring at intersection of Old Vincennes Road and John Pectol Road, in direction
of FC High School.
Philip Engleman was member of Capt. Buchanan's Company Augusta County Militia.
Service information is recorded in following:
Mc Allister, J.T. VIRGINIA MILITIA WAR, McAllister Publishing Co., Hot Springs VA 1989.
Gwathmy Historical Register of Virginians in the Revolution, page 17. Philip is listed as
Philip Angleman. (German pronounciation for A same as E.)
Betty Davis Lowe provided researh. She also copied Augusta County records at Virginia
State Library in Richmond. Betty Davis Lowe decended from Phlip through his daughter Nancy
Anna Engleman.
Nylas married name is Nyla Engleman Ruth. I do not know her phone#, but I will keep you
posted on dedication ceremony. How should I contact you?
She is also decended through Jacob then Abraham, as you. She then decends through
Martin.
Nyla's brother John Engleman and nephew Sean Engleman, have also helped much with
cemetery restoration.
I would appreciate information on Nancy Anna Silling (b1752 d1822)family including
parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. I no records of her ancestry.
Many thanks.
Best regards,
Chuck Gipperich
