Well, now I know the term for a prior month. It is "Ultimo", which means in the
month prior. If you read "on the 3rd ultimo (abbreviated "ult."), it would
mean on the 3rd day of the month just prior to the current month.

I believe inst. stands for "instant" but it's commonly used meaning
"day".
