Have two new names for roll call in Floyd County. Meyer, c.1890 lived at
St. Joe Hill (realize this is the NE border of Floyd and Clark); also
Adkins/Atkins who lived up Fairview Knob and established Atkins Chapel
EUB/now Methodist Church. There are connections between both these families
and my great-great grandfather Joseph Smith, who operated a sawmill at Six
Mile Switch (at what is now Grant Line Road and the RR track on highway 111
south of highway 60 that goes to Hamburg. The Adkins/Atkins family and
possibly the Smiths lived in Lafayette Twp.
Does anyone have Smiths that lived in south Jefferson Co., KY, before
crossing the river to run the mill at Six Mile Switch?
Is anyone in touch with Don (Noble) Smith, who grew up on Hausfeldt Lane and
now lives on Main St. in NA?
So many questions; so few answers. And Debbie, welcome to the list. Years
and years later, we all still ask questions. mpm
