Heather. Not related, just trying to help. Harland's social security records
indicate he was born 27 Sep 1912 and died in New Albany in June 1982. I believe he was
the son of Foster Stewart and Lillian Sanders who married in Floyd county on 2 Jul 1912,
source is book 16, page 320. Might have been a shotgun involved in this marriage as in a
later census she indicates she was only 16 when first married and you can see the short
time between the marriage and his birth. In the 1920 census the family was in Floyd
county, New Albany Ward 5, Dist 78, page 7B, and was headed by Foster Stewart, 29, cannot
make out his occupation, he and all others were born in Indiana as were their parents, and
the family included his wife Lillian, 25, his son Harland, 7, his son Clinton, 4, his
daughter Florence, 3, his son Wilber, 1 7/12, and his son Lee, 6/12 (we have a problem
with this child because it is listed as his son but as a female). In the 1930 census the
family was in Floyd county!
, New Albany, Dist 15, page 23A, and was again headed by Foster Stewart, 39, first
married at 21, a laborer, again he and all others were born in Ind, and the family
included his wife Lillian E, 34, first married at 16, his son Harland R, 17, his son
Clinton, 15, his son Wilber L, 11, his daughter Florence E, 14, his daughter Naomi L, 9,
his daughter Mae T, 8, his daughter Doris M, 7, his daughter Geneva L, 6, his son Foster
Jr., 4, his son James R, 3, and his daughter Rita N, 1 7/12. Hope this helps. Don
