Hi Debbie,
Sorry it took me this long to answer your message. Since I work on a lot of my ansestors
names it has been awhile since I checked out all their names. The Broker/ Broecker's
came from a small town called Glane in the Kingdom of Hanover, Germany. This is what I
have from the church records on baptismals:
Vater - Herman Henrich Broker
Mutler - Anna Maria (Sophia) Rutemeyer
Kinder: born/baptism died
Anna Maria Broker - March 20, 1807 Jul 1, 1807
Joan Henrich Broker - May 24, 1808
Bernard Henrich Broker - Mar 17, 1811
Maria Elizabeth Broker - Apr 3, 1814
Bernard Henrich Conrad Broker - Nov 4, 1816
Johannes Matthas Broker - Nov 24, 1819 Oct 21, 1821
Catherina Gertrud Broker - Oct 16, 1822
Anna Marria Catharina Broker - Sep 10, 1826
The father death unknown along with Joan Henrich and the two who died are possiably buried
in the church yard where they all attended. I am told there are a lot of Broker's
buried in Glane. Anna Marria "Sophia" as she was known came to America with her
daughters, Maria Elizabeth, Caterina Gertrud, and Anna Maria Catharina Broker in the
1850's. Bernard Henrich Broker b 1811 was called Benjamin and brother Conrad came to
America before 1840 and settled in Floyd Co., IN in New Albany where they were very
wealthy. They are buried in the St. Mary's Chatholic Cemetery here. The sisters
married and their descendants still live here in New Albany. On Conrads toombstone it
reads born in Glane, Kingdom of Hanover, Germany. This is how we knew where to look for
records. A cousins grandson brought this info., back after his visit to the church in
Glane.
The following is the church name:
Pfarrer Franz Diekmann
Kath. Pfarramt - Glane
Knchstrabfse 2
4505 Bad Iburg - Glane
Tell. 05403 - 327
I hope this may help you or someone else out there looking for their family.
Happy Hunting
