In 1830 New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana, a document was signed by John
& Ann (nee WALKER) NEWTON giving power of attorney to Thomas WALKER
(Ann's brother). Also giving power of attorney to Thomas was his older
brother & wife William S & Louisa (nee LEFLER) WALKER and their widowed
sister Sarah B. McCORMICK (nee WALKER & widow of Alexander McCORMICK,
late of Shelby County, Kentucky.
I have checked the Indiana marriages to see if Ann Walker/John Newton
were married there, but to no avail. Does anyone have the census
records for Indiana from 1820 through possibly 1850 for a name, and/or
household check for this family. This is the first I have found Ann
since her uncle Prettyman BURTON was given guardianship of the four
children of the late William WALKER (Goochland County, Virginia) and
Jane (nee BURTON) WALKER HANKINS. Jane married Nathaniel HANKINS in
Shelby County, KY in 1811 and she died prox 1815/1816. Thank you for
taking the time to read this.
