This is a cut and paste from an email I had with a librarian in Floyd County, IN. I hope
it helps
The German Catholics in New Albany attended St. Mary's (of the Annunciation).
The Irish Catholics attended Holy Trinity.
The French Catholics had mostly settled just north of the city in Floyds Knobs and
Greenville, and attended St. Mary of the Knobs or St. Mary's Navilleton.
St. Joe Hill served both French and German families, as far as I can recall, and these
churches were in rural areas with many large farms.
The "newer" churches in New Albany - Holy Family and Our Lady of Perpetual Help
- were both begun about the 1950s, and do not have cemeteries - Holy Trinity and St.
Mary's Cemeteries are in different locations, but their administration is combined now
under Catholic Cemeteries of New Albany. (Holy Trinity Church burned right after
Christmas of 1975, and the decision was made not to rebuild.)
