Have you checked other Catholic cemeteries here, other than the Knobs? We have quite a few. As I said, they may still be in Trinity, or there is St. Mary's Navilleton. That's where I go to church myself. I don't remember seeing that name there, but as I was not looking for it... There are also others in New Albany. As well as St. John's in Starlite. That's just outside of the Floyds Knobs limits, so a lot of people overlook it. I'll keep looking as I have time. When I looked in the books in the library, I noticed the Catholic church cemeteries were not listed, so I assume they keep their own records. There is also Kraft Memorial in New Albany, which is an extremely large cemetery, but I don't know how far back those graves go.

Thank you so much. You went over and beyond, but I appreciate it. Patrick Kinlan was Catholic and I figured he had to be buried in a Catholic Cemetery. I know they went to St. Mary's of the Knobs Cath. church....none are buried there because I have checked. His daughter, my Gr-Grandmother had her children baptized in that church also. I had never heard of "Mooresville Cem." before so that is why I was interested. I've checked just about everywhere else.
Again thank you!!!
Jane

The library did not have a listing of this cemetery, so I'm going to call St. Mary's on Monday and ask them if there was ever a recording of the stones there.

Jane - sorry - I just realized I typed that wrong. I wasn't thinking correctly. Although I did look for the Kinlan name in Holy Trinity, I also looked in Hillcrest. The name wasn't there, nor was it listed in the book at the library. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you. Not ALL of the cemeteries in Floyd County are listed, so that's not to say who you're looking for isn't here. I'll keep on the lookout in the future and let you know if I find anything.

Melissa - the following is what I found at Hillcrest:
William D. Bruner b. 3 Mar 1878 d. 17 Jun 1903
Henry H. Bruner b. 13 Mar 1869 d. 28 Jun 1951
his wife buried with him: Norma M. Bruner b 8 Dec 1872 d. 2 May 1910
You also listed a Mary M Hollis [Norrington] Bruner in your list. Well, oddly enough, I found a grave with the following:
William B. Norrington b. 12 Dec 1838 d. 19 Apr 1875 buried with: Mary M. Norrington b. 5 Feb 1838 d. 5 Mar 1913
Those are the exact same years for your Mary M. but you have her listed as Bruner last?
There were several more Norrington graves there as well.
I'm not sure if you were wanting pics of any of these graves, so I went ahead and took some. If you'd like to have them, I can email them to you.
As well as going to the cemeteries, I went to the library today and searched for the names in a book of Floyd County cemeteries. There was another Bruner listed, John Bruner d. 8 Mar 1851 buried in the Northern Burial Ground in the City of New Albany. I'm not exactly sure what that means or where, but I'll gladly find out the next time I go to the library. I hope that helps, and I'm sorry I couldn't find more. The book had Hillcrest listed as well, and the Bruner graves that I listed above agreed with the book. There are no more Bruners there on record or that I could see.
Jane - I was unable to find any "Kinlan" names in the cemetery. I went to Holy Trinity in New Albany, but there are a LOT of graves there that are so old and unreadable. The library did not have a listing of this cemetery, so I'm going to call St. Mary's on Monday and ask them if there was ever a recording of the stones there. However, the librarian did tell me that she heard that Holy Trinity was originally a private family cemetery and that the stones that are there now are not all of the original stones? Whatever that means! She wasn't really sure, but seemed to think there might be another location??? I've no idea, but will do my best to find out. That's got my curiosity up!!! :-)

Jim,
I looked in Holy Trinity Cemetery in New Albany today and was unable to find anything, but I wasn't able to make it through the entire cemetery - it's really big! And, there are a LOT of old, unreadable stones there. I'll try to stop in there again tomorrow or over the weekend and take another look.

Hello Jamie,
If you can, I hope I can impose on you to look for a "Kinlan" burial in the Mooresville Cemetery when you go to help the other person. I was not aware of this cemetery. I've never found where my GG-Grandfather Patrick Kinlan died and was buried. He was dead before 1865. He was b. about 1798 in Ireland. The family lived in Floyds Knobs and New Albany.
Thanks a bunch.
Jane

I'm going to be out and about doing some other look-ups this week and I'll look for any of these names. It sure would help if you could narrow it down any more, although I know how hard that is. Do you have any other info at all that might help? We have a lot of cemeteries here.

Ok, sorry about that. I haven't had my second cup of coffee yet this morning LOL. Now I've got it. Holy Trinity Parish in New Albany was destroyed by fire in 1975, at which time the parishoners merged with St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany. So you weren't totally off the mark when you first said St. Mary's. Your ancestors are probably buried at the St. Mary's Cemetery in New Albany. I'll try to get down there tomorrow or Friday and check it out.

Sorry Jim, for some reason I can't seem to open the attachment. I'll give it a shot though. I know there is a Trinity in Louisville, but something tells me there might be something in New Albany as well. Let me do some digging around and I'll get back to you.

Okay maybe I got a little confused, since you asked I looked up the obit for Eva Elizabeth Knoob and it turned out the funeral service was held at Trinity Catholic Church. I somehow had this confused with Saint Mary's, not sure why.
If you can still help great!
