if anyone wants pics taken in New Albany, call me, I will see what I can do
Nina (we are leaving in a few minutes)
We are heading for Fairlawn Cemetery. Does anyone know if offices are open
at the cemetery on weekends?
Could take headstone pics for anyone who has burials there if you would
like.
We will most likely get there this eve or tomorrow some time.
Email me soon, as we are leaving in a few hours. Was a total last minute
decision to leave today or I would have posted this earlier

Thanks to everyone who gave input on places to stay in New Albany area.
Have a few good ideas to follow up on now.
Looking forward to it.
I do have another question.
My husbands' grandparents were from England and they married
at Grace Church in Louisville in September 1894. I looked up Grace Church
via Google, found one and its southern Baptist...they attended the Anglican
Church or Episcopal Church everywhere else. The history of Grace Church
indicated the congregation was early on largely from England. Anyone else
have English immigrants from the area who might also have attended Grace
Church and is this even the same one...the one I found currently existing
was established some time in the 1830's the site claimed.

Subject: [INFLOYD] Information about New Albany (slightly OT)
Hello All,
I am hoping someone here can help me.
My husband and I were thinking of taking a mini vacation next week and
stopping in
New Albany to do a little research and cemetery stomping.
Could anyone recommend a hotel?
I have looked at travelocity.com and hotels.com but there seems to be little
listed for New Albany itself.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Looking for WRIGHT descendants that had ancestors from Pennsylvania. My 2nd greatgrandfather, George R. WRIGHT, was b. 29 Jul 1817 in Philadelphia, PA. His parents were George WRIGHT & Elizabeth HALL. His family was in the ship building business & are believed to have come directly to IN from PA. In 1846, George R. m. Mary JONES, the daughter of Thompson JONES & Margaret GILLELAND of Barren Co KY. I have not found a connection to all of the WRIGHTS from KY but I'm not ruling anything out. George was supposed to have had 6 younger siblings but I do not know if they were born in PA or after the family moved to IN. George R. had a store in New Albany & later moved to a farm in Harrison Co. IN. I cannot locate deaths of his parents or any siblings.

Are these the children of George ARMSTRONG, the Methodist minister?

My Yost is the line from Joseph Yost(born In Darmstadt Germany the first of the 1800's and died in Lanesville Indiana in the mid 1800's). His wife died soon after coming to America in the late 1830's. He and his sons, Mathias, Francis, and Michael settled in Harrison County and branched into Floyd county. I have seen their last name spelled Yoste, Jost, and Yost. I do not think we are on the same line. Do they sound familiar to you?
