Yay! I found you!
I'm trying to find more information on the above Hornungs. Alvin is my grandfather and lived in New Albany, Indiana. I think I found my ggrandfather Jacob on the 1880 census and it says that he was born in Missouri but I don't really know much about him except that he married Rosina Henn in Floyd County on 21 Feb 1871.
I don't know much about Alvin or Jacob.
I do have some information from my aunt on Alvin's brothers (Carl Benjamin and Earl) if that is of any help to anyone, it's mainly dates, but it's yours if you want it.....
thank you for your help

1)The naturalization record for Thomas Dowd is recorded in Floyd Co. IN Circuit Order Book R, p. 604.
This listing is found on p. 37 of: "An index to Indiana naturalization records found in various order books of the ninety-two local courts prior to 1907", published by Indiana Historical Society, 1981. This index does not include names from the naturalization record books and related documents usually found in the clerk's office in each county.
In this same index are 2 Dowd entries listed in Jefferson Co. IN: Peter Dowd, Circuit Book S, p. 368 (1852/1853) and Peter Dowd, Circuit Book W, p. 453 (1859/1861).
2) The Circuit Order Books should still be in the County Clerk's Office of each county unless placed in a local archives due to limited space.
3) Since the naturalization records are considered to be federal records, not county records, record books labeled or identified as naturalization records were removed from Indiana county court houses several years ago and taken to the Indiana State Archives, Indianapolis, for preservation.
I suggest you contact the County Clerks for photocopy of the above mentioned records in Circuit Order Books, and then the Indiana State Archives for possible additional information.
