Hi, Sharon--thanks for the reply. I need to do some more digging. there surely has to be someone in the family who may know what order she was in. I wasn't sure if her order would give out any info so it is good to know that may be an option.

Hi Ruth
I'm a decendent of the Robert McLaughlin/Barbara Toops line. I've been trying to find any information about Robert McLauglin's father, Edward McLaughlin. It seems as though Edward left Ireland at age 16, served with Washington at Valley Forge and built a large log cabin in the Penn Hills, east of Pittsburgh.
Any information that you have on the McLaughlin's would be really appreciated.
Thanks!
Does anyone have a copy of the family information in the Thomas Morris Bible of Floyd County? I am unsure how far back the information may have gone. The line is Morris Morris, Sr., Thomas T. Morris, Thomas A. Morris, Homer R. Morris. Morris settled in Harrison County, Indiana Territory, from which Floyd County was formed. From that time the family property was in Greenville, then New Albany, and Louisville, KY.
Thanks so much,
Virginia Morris Brown

1810 census Montgomery County (now Floyd), Va. shows John Zilling and Jacob Snuffer were neighbors. Jacob Snuffer was my great-great-great grandfather. They lived at what is now called Copper Hill. I had a letter in 1980 from Helen S. Martin, 704 Vista del Playa, Orange, Calif. 92665 whose father moved from Bent Mountain (near Copper Hill) in 1900. Says his parents buried in Huff Cemetery near Mt. Olivet Church on Bent Mountain. Jacob Snuffer also acquired some land from John Zilling in 1802.appraiser of Jacob's estate 1814.
The date of the funeral in then subject for the John Gibson should have read

Death of Another Old Citizen.
We sincerely regret to learn of the death of Mr. Madison MARTIN, which
occurred
at his residence in Greenville township, last Friday night. Mr. MARTIN was
about
65 years of age and had long been a resident of that township. He leaves a
wife,
children and grand children to mourn his loss, as well as many friends, for
all
who knew him claimed him as a friend. The remains were buried at the Kepley
School House graveyard, at one o'clock this afternoon; the Odd Fellows and
Grangers, of both of which orders he was an honored member, turned out in
strong force to pay the last sad tribute of respect to their departed
brother. The
funeral was preached by Rev. Mr. HUTCHINSON, of the Third Presbyterian
Church of this city, and was very impressive.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church burned down in the mid 1970's. The property was transfered to St. Mary's at the time.
I have never heard of an Annunciation parish in Floyd Co.
I am familiar with some of the surnames you are working on. We may even have a connection with the Hornung line.
Hope this heps.

I'm also interested.
Someone was helpful enough and told me the catholic churches in New Albany, Floyd Co - were : Holy Trinity and Annunciation. Is this correct? are there more? I asked the library in the area and they don't have any films on the catholic churches and that is as far as I've gone on it.
I'm researching the Hornungs, Hangers, Murphys, Harmelings in this area - going back to the 1800s

The Advent Christian Church was built in 1891 and was the first church
built in Silver Grove. The church is sort of a mission church that came
from the "Second Advent Church" that was at the corner of Watt and E.
Maple in Jeffersonville. Actually I think it faced Watt at about 328
Watt. It was led for over 40 years by Dr. Nathaniel Field. He had
connections to the Underground Railroad. The New Albany church will be
holding their 115 year anniversary in November with an open house. They
will be holding special services from November 10 through the 12th. On
Saturday, the 11th starting at 1:00 P.M. they will be having a special
open house and reunion celebration with a sing a-long at 4:00P.M. At
this open house they will be displaying many historic items that had to
do with both The Town of Silver Grove and the Advent Christian Church.

The Town of Silver Grove was located east of Silver Street, south of
Charlestown Road and basically north of Spring Street in New Albany,
Indiana. In the 1880's, a group of residents settled in the area formed
and applied for incorporation of the Town of Silver Grove in 1886. The
Town of Silver Grove survived until late 1914 when it was finally
annexed by the City of New Albany. In those years the area grew from
about 100 residents to about 1,000 when it was annexed.
By 2000, the memory of the small town had almost completely vanished.
In
December of 2001 a small group of residents formed a neighborhood
association rightfully later named "The Silver Grove Neighborhood
Association".
We are incorporated and have a 501 c-3 tax exempt status, has existed for
about
five years and is named for the Historic area. The Association meets
each month in the basement of the Advent Christian Church within a few
feet of the site of the original Town Hall and volunteer Fire Department.

For those interested. An update.
Clark County Indiana records show;
William and Sarah migrated to Indiana around 1800.
In 1803, they bought 132 acres of land in Union Township, Clark County, Indiana Territory near Charleston.
William died in Union Township, Indiana Territory in 1814 and in 1832, Sarah sold the 132 acres of land to Joseph Reed, their oldest son.
In 1837, Joseph Reed sold the farm to John Armstrong.

I have just finished uploading to the Floyd County, Indiana INGenWeb site at
the
following photos of tombstones I took Tuesday. They are in no particular
order,
but most of the ones taken Tuesday were in the back corner, and are probably
single graves. There do not seem to be many multi-grave lots in that area,
however
there are a few. I hope someone finds someone they are looking for
