Thank you for your response, I had come to a dead end for quite a while.I have tried to email to you but I could not get thru. I looked up the town of Sumset in the library a while back and they had a woman from Germany (as luck would have it) we could not find a town named Sumset by the Rhine but we did find a town named Sunstedt and it is located over by the Yugoslavia border....This was taken from a German book listing all of the towns in Germany and they had a map which I copied...if you wish I will try and scan it to you or send me an email with your address and I will send you the pages listing the town and map...

Hi Kathy. I wondered if the picture you had was the same one that hung in my Grandparents home for so long. My uncle, Monsignor O'Bryan has this picture now. I was hoping you might have a different one and some information on Nancy's family. Mother said her Grandmother was a convert to the Catholic faith and I do not know her faith before that so other than the census I would not know any other records to search except marriage records. She died in 1904 before good records were kept. I am hoping someone searching in Floyd county may recognize her name with their family genealogy and the connection possibly with John and Martha Snyder. I think John may have gone to Indiana from his birthplace in Kentucky if he is the same John Snyder as the census indicates. I do know she was of German heritage and background. Glad to meet another cousin. Let me know if you come across any other information. My mother is Martine Myrtha, the second daughter of Joseph Martin O'Bryan and Regina!
Ivo Mattingly O'Bryan. Sincerely, Mary

Hi,
I am searching for any information on the following people. Frances Livingston, William Engleman, Hector Grant, Elizabeth Smith. I found these four people in a Family Tree paper but the information was so smudge and all I dont know where they tie in at. I am guessing and thinking that they were from the Floyd County, IN area as most of my family members were from there. Any information on them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello Kathy, Thank you for answering my message about Nancy Snyder Lawson O'Bryan. My grandfather was Joseph Martin O'Bryan, a son of Nancy and James Pius O'Bryan. My uncle Monsignor Aloysius O'Bryan did the O'Bryan genealogy for us in the 1960's so we had a record of the O'Bryans. I was trying to find Nancy's people in Floyd county, Indiana. Would you have any information on her mother and father? I had a lady look up on the census and she believed them to be John and Martha Snyder of Floyd county, Indiana. The J in Nancy's name would then have been June instead of Jane. This is probably right since Mom says her grandmother's son by Mr. Lawson, her first husband, was named John Lawson. He could have been named for his grandfather. I would love to have her picture if you could send it to me at Kyladybird(a)sbcglobal.net. Thank you so much in advance for the picture and for writing to me. Sincerely, Mary Ward

Nothing on a Charles Hagan b. 1830. I reviewed some of your other posts and I doubt if the Hugh Hagan you are researching is the same Hugh Hagan that I'm tracking. My Hugh Hagan migrated to Madison Co., KY about 1790 from SC. He was probably born in or close to Chester Co., PA around 1760, the son of John Hagan/Haggins and Elizabeth Campbell -- Elizabeth the dau of Hugh and Margaret Campbell. Hugh's parents joined him in Madison Co., KY about 1796 (also migrating there from SC). Later, they moved on to Barren/Warren Co., KY where John died in 1806. The only California link I show is with a William Hagans who married an Elizabeth Smith. I have William tenatively listed as a son of old John Hagan/Haggins and Elizabeth Campbell -- but that is very speculative at best. If any of this seems of interest to you, drop me and email and I can go into more detail as to any soecific questions you might have. Good luck, Butch
I have ordered articles from this site before. I searched for the
names of interest, fount the title of the article, then ordered. I
think it was just the price of photocopying. Don't remember how long
it took to order.
At this website, I once searched for a surname and came across the
1883 obit of a doctor in Daviess County. From several other sources,
I knew the doctor had actually died in 1893, but the New Albany paper
reported him dead in 1883. I now have both obits - the New Albany
obit of 1883, and the Daviess county obit of 1893.

I have recently found Marthena's parents were married in Nelson Cty, Kentucky. Am interested in Sands/Sans as they married Jones family members who I related to. It appears that Robert's brother James married a Jane Jones in Nelson Cty, Kentucky, too and both families headed to Spencer County, Indiana around 1815 or before. Robert and Zipporah then were in Crawford and maybe HArrison Cty. in Indiana. Then some Sans moved to west central Illinois and one Robert Sans married Nancy Jones 1832/33. I think he would be a son of James and Jane Sands/Sans but have not proved it.
