Hello,
As a coordinator for the Floyd Co Website on INGen Web, I get a lot of
complaints about not being able to post queries, etc., because they can't
find the link on my INGenWeb site. I am getting ready to revise the page
and would like to know if anyone would want to send me queries and I could
make a page for them to be accessed on the site without haveing to go to the
rootsweb site automatically? Of course, if you wish you could also post
them to the rootsweb site.
I would however, like to reformat them, if necessary, so that they are
uniform and then put them in Alphabetical order. Then I can post them to
the list. If so, please send me your queries personally to:
spcarpenter(a)ka.net. Then I will put the queries on the webpage and also
send it to this list and let you know when I make any updates on the
webpage.

I am trying to find the burial location of my 3x-great-grandfather, Adam SHOCKMAN who was still living in Greenville Township, Floyd Co., IN in 1850. What cemeteries exist in/near Greenville Township? - and is there a historical society or library I could contact where there might be indexes listing who is buried in them? He was b.abt 1792-93 and died before 1860 and his "real" first name may have been George, but he was apparently known as Adam.
I would appreciate any help or information you can offer!

The Luther ABNEY in your query seems likely the son of William and Saloma (DULL) ABNEY who was born in Posey County, Indiana about 1844. He was a Private in Company D, 91st Indiana Infantry, during the Civil War. He married Mary MAUCK in Gibson County, Indiana in 1967 and Mary CREAGH about 1878. Luther died in Louisville on January 2, 1921. I would appreciate the opportunity to share information, and, if you think this connection unlikely, to hear your thoughts.

For those new to the roots web and those of you veterans I would like to say
that there are many folks who subscribe that are willing to do what they
can to help others in their research.
I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in
Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost
and I am willing to do what I can. There are 1743 prisoners of war on record
from the state of Indiana and about 700 who died here, I thought I would
send my offer. I also do the research for any prisoners from any state that
were here.
Here are my sources of research.
There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company
and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list
which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked
as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of
the 45,000 who
were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of
mispellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every
couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the
physical files. Please do not concider this spam as my research offer is
FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. Please
email me directly for lookup request at Frye(a)gnat.net
I also take grave photos for a small fee that covers my cost.
If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville,
please just ask.

I just wanted to let you know I have completed a Hublard Family History Book which is now in the New Albany, Indiana Public Library for viewing.
In record of deaths Indiana Henry Hubler was 75 years old when he died on September 14, 1923. His DOB is 9-22-1847
looks like in Indiana where he died. His wife was listed as Mary E. Maiden name of his mother, Elizabeth Schmitt, Father was George Hubler. He is buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. I can tell you what he died of. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LINK GEORGE OR YOUR HENRY TO THIS LIINE. PERHAPS GEORGE MAY HAVE BEEN A BROTHER TO PETER?
The Henry Hubler I have as a son of Peter was born October, 1851 in Switzerland and died 1-21-1902. Please respond to
my e-mail address if you would like to discuss.

Does anyone know where the records are for the land patents filed at the Jeffersonville Land Office? I have the name of the patentee, the location and date from the Bureau of Land Management card file. Land Patents frome 1820 to 1908 are online, too late for my 1813 patent.
