I would really appreciate it if somebody in New Albany could
find me a copy of my grandfather, Wesley D. Daugherty's
obituary. His residence at the time of his death was New Albany and he died in either August or September of 1962.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I have just found the surnames Albert and Gouldener in my family. So far,
I've found them in Mooresville (Floyds Knobs) and Lafayette Township. Some
of them are buried in St. Mary's of the Knobs Cemetery. I know that the
cemetery index is online, but wonder if anyone has written to St. Mary's
Church requesting information on family members from the 1830s to about the
1880s. Also, is anyone else reseawrching the Albert and Gouldener surnames?
Thank you,
Sandi
URGENT REQUEST!:
Now that we are over the holidays, This years is our 350th Anniversary of
the landing of the Swartwout family in North America. The name has many
variations such as Swarthout, Swartout, Swartwood, Swathwood, Swarthwood
etc. We need help in gather lines, pictures, articles, wills, what ever you
have stashed in your attic. We would really appreciated it if you shared
with us what you had, there a literally thousands of us here looking for
our roots, looking for connections. For our 350th Anniversary we need to
updated our list of folks out there that are descendants somewhere along the
line of any of those variations. We also have a family newsletter that cost
only $5.00 per year, a real bargain. Just send it your mailing address.
Every day I get e-mail asking me for help. Up here in Canada, there were two
brothers that had huge families, all the remains of their descendants are
the female sides. All the male went back to the States. I'm am the
maintainer of "The Updated Swartwout Chronicles" People submit their
lines-ged-coms etc. and I just drop them into the data base. It is
everyone's database. Each person is responsible for their own submissions.

Sandi, the 1850 census for Indiana has an index that will save you
considerable time over browsing through the images on Ancestry, one image at
a time. But you do need to know the names of the heads of household. If you
live near a public library with a genealogy section, it may have the census
data as well as the index. Alternatively, there are places on the internet
to find the 1850 index with the associated images.

I am searching the 1850 Floyd County Census for Mooresville residents.
Ancestry gives the townships as Lafayette, Lower Albany, New Albany,
Greenville, Franklin and Georgetown. I've found some of the people I've been
looking for in Lafayette, but am missing several. Is there another of these
townships anyone would suggest looking in? Which was the closest to
Mooresville? Was Lafayette in Mooresville?
Thank you for any help,
Sandi

I am getting old and I don't have the time to go searching for ancestors. It is people like Scott Bush who knocks down "the brick wall" for people like me that makes genealogy enjoyable. This is what it is all about, helping each other. We are all related to one degree or another like family and sharing information is a great gift to someone. A lot of us men have a hard time saying "Thank You". I believe we should give phrase to those who make genealogy sites like Roots Web work, people like you and I, people like Scott Bush. Scott, I thank you . Jim Harrison

Someone sent me the names of who they think Alouis, Casper, Frederick and Rosa's parents names are but I haven't had a chance to verify it yet. The names given to me were Dominique Knable and Anne Marie VonBanck. I don't have any names or places. This person thought that Alouis was born about 1815 in Dossenheim-sur Zinsel, Bas Rhin, France. They think that Christina Marione's parents were Jean Marrion and Magdelain Lallemont. Sorry, I just haven't had time to verify this yet, but perhaps you do. I have many birth and death certificates of the Knable's that ended up here in Kansas City and would be willing to share copies. Would love to do some swapping of information. I have also been in contact with a Knable in Jefferson City. She sent me her line so I have her names and dates as well. Just haven't verified anything yet.
