Surname: McManaman, McManamon, McManahan
-------------------------
EF McManaman lived in New Albany (Floyd Co) Indiana. Edward Franklind McManaman
lived in New Albany where he was a priest at the catholic church. He left
the priesthood and married Emeline Thompson in Athens, Ga on May 9,1870.
His parents were from Ireland (names unknown)and lived in New Albany. He
had brothers names Michael, Patrick and John as well as sisters Beatrice
and Allice.Edward McManaman was born December 25, 1847 (46?). His mother
only spoke Gaelic. Edward enlisted as a private in the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry
Company D (Duke's Mounted Riflemen) on August 1, 1861/1862. He was captured
at New Lisbon, Ohio, July 19, 1863. He was paroled at Camp Douglas, Illinois
and forwarded to Point Lookout, MD, for exchange on February 20, 1865.
His wife, Emeline Izzadore McManaman, applied for widow's pension from
Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, although they were married in Georgia.
He was a contractor and builder for thirty years, and he worked in Georgia,
South Carolina, and Florida. I am very interested in discovering his ancestry,
and certainly, any further information would be most appreciated.

We are wondering if John and Maria Christopher appear on the 1860 Census for
Floyd Co. and what other information might be found there on this
African-American family.
Thank you.

I have established a web site on the descendants of James McMonigle & Osse
Jacobs of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Four of their five children who grew
to adulthood made Harrison, Floyd, and surrounding counties their home
at one time or another. This web site includes many of the historic surnames
of the area from the 1800's to current day. You are encouraged to visit
this web site (http://my.voyager.net/davemcmo/descendan/) to determine
if you are included or have further information on any of the families
involved.

shows (v. 9, p. 140) David A. SWARENS marrying with Louisa ZANGER on 1
Dec 1886. Does anyone have a resource that will tell me more? What are
Floyd County marriage records from this time period like? Thanks.
