To us all,
I am happy to see some of us are looking a little deeper. I support Betty
also, but I really still don't understand any of this. We have no idea what
happened to get Brian L. upset enough to ban these four CC's. Even though
we are "supposedly under US Genweb" we are playing on "Rootsweb's
Playground". If
we are NOT going to be politically active in the US Genweb, which I am in
complete favor of, then what ever happens there is their problem. If it was
one of us then we should know what happened, but in this case it wasn't and
I suspect that the perpetrators deserved what he did. Besides it was only
for 30 days, and seems to me they complained because they thought they
couldn't vote in the upcoming election. This turned out to be false.
I have no idea what-so-ever what I would do without the support of
Rootsweb. I have literally megabytes of information up of which would not
have been possible without them. My local server allows me up to two megs
with my monthly service and I am already paying $32.00 a month because
rootsweb will not let me have my gedcoms there. So I pay $15. or $16.
dollars extra every month as it is. If I had to pay for all the material I
have on Rootsweb I couldn't be a County Coord.
My suggestion is to go on doing what we are doing which is providing one
of the best (if not the best) states on the US Genweb for genealogy.
Support rootsweb if possible and to heck with what the rest of them are
doing. I get the vibes this is politics to them and not genealogy. I made
up my mind quite a while back that I am not voting in any of the US Genweb
elections as I have no idea who these people are and absolutely abhor the
name-calling and back-biting and the way they seem to be able to hurt
people. I am a genealogist and a county coord for Grant County and that is
what I will continue to do as long as we "in Indiana" stick together. We
are down home people and we get along just great. Except for the one
incident Amy mentioned, we have gotten along beautifully. Let's keep it
that way. One more thing - Betty we love you.
