Thank you Tim -
I'm a firm believer that a county coordinator can 'house' his county page
where he chooses. If the State page is moved - it would be up to each
county coordinator where they want to place their county page. Some may
choose to stay with Rootsweb, etc.or place their pages on their home server.
Lori has given us the name of site - where the page would not have to be
moved when a new SC is appointed. I think that is good sense. I also could
move them to usroots with the same option.
My Trigg County and Christian Co pages are not on rootsweb and I still
maintain my Genconnect pages that are on Rootsweb...
By the way - guys - go visit the BlueGrass Opry - some of my kin..
I'll support you in whatever move you make. I too am a rootsweb sponsor. I
moved both counties there over a year and a half ago because my local ISP
kept changing the county URLs and I got tired of notifying everyone of the
change.
I've not been one to get involved in the politics that I've seen
lately...I'm here to provide a valuable (I hope) service to so many people
who are looking for their families in Randolph and Adams counties. I've
received a lot of expressions of thanks from people, and I've made contact
with a number of my own family and enlarged my family genealogy at the same
time. It's been rewarding.
But if it's going to disintegrate into nasty name calling from a few
individuals who seem to have an ego, then I'd just as soon move. I have all
my files on my computer, so that's not a problem. We'd loose some
flexibility and some features, like GenConnect, probably. I'll leave the
decision in your capable hands and support you whatever you decide.
