The WPA indexes are typed in book form, but the project only covered about
3/4 of Indiana, alphabetically. Luckily, Adams Co. is first in line. I know
there are none for Randolph Co. and I doubt for Spencer Co. either.
In Adams Co., the books are in the Decatur Public Library, the County
Clerk's office (marriage index) and the health department (birth and death
indexes) that I know of. I've also found the people at the Adams Co. Health
Department very nice and helpful. I've dealt with the gentleman in Randolph
Co. and had basically the same experience as Gina. Jay Co. was difficult,
but Noble Co. people were again very helpful. It just depends on the office
staff in the county, I guess.
