Sorry I missed participating in the main discussion on this. I agree with
Randy. I spent a considerable amount of time getting set up with CCHelper
back around the end of the year. My motive at the time was to easily
sort/store queries, not only by surname, but by date (year). Now with the
advent of CCHelper Central. . . . The world-wide "clearinghouse" of
surname queries (in my opinion) will be an invaluable tool for any
researcher (including myself). Seems to me if we fail to include IN county
surnames, we are undermining the effectiveness of Central. Afterall, the
whole CCHelper program was designed specifically for us - county
coordinators of USGenWeb.
Seems like we would double our effectiveness if individual IN county
websites included BOTH a forum for general discussion - where do you find. .
. , how do you. . ., do you know. . . (well you know the types of queries I
mean) AND the CCHelper method of posting queries/surnames.
I admit that Noble Co. doesn't have a high volume of queries, but it just
doesn't seem like any big effort on my part to copy/paste a new query into
CCHelper and (basically) let the program do the rest. I DO spend a
considerable amount of time personally answering\researching questions from
researchers - something for which the forum would be perfect!
