Hi to everyone on this blistering hot hot hot day. Southern Indiana is a
scorcher....
I want to send an apology to Indiana coordinator's and group. I've been
nominated as a cc rep on the advisory board of USGenWeb for the
SE/Mid-Atland region and sent my bio in as requested.
In my bio - there was reference to serving with the Indiana Coordinator's in
InGenWeb's pioneer days.
For some reason this was left out.. I had mention of being the InGenWeb
coordinator for 16 months.
I truly am sorry that someone saw fit to remove this! Indiana and
especially InGenWeb has always been a very important part of my life with
precious memories. Please accept my apology.
I have been nominated in another district so most of you wouldn't be able to
vote for me. However John G. West has been nominated in Indiana's district
and I'd highly recommend ole John...we both believe in the foundation
starting at the county and the state and linking to UsGenWeb...
There's nothing so precious as to pull up the county you were born in - and
find a picture, a map, a census, a marriage, an article, a burial record..
and talk 'almost across the back field fence to a neighbor'.
On June 15th, I placed Nancy Trice's name in nomination for NC of the
USGenWeb... I did this with no hesitation. Nancy's concerns and beleif's
are mine. I started about six weeeks after Nancy and I believe in the
county, state and then the national link. Working together...
Please consider her platform below:
Nancy is concerned with the direction she see in USGenWeb going in the past
few months. The USGenWeb Project was founded on the principle of the
county coordinators being the backbone of the organization.
Without the county coordinators there would not be a USGenWeb Project.
It is Nancy's belief that the organization of USGenWeb should be from the
bottom up, with very few 'rules'. She feels that the position of NC should
be more of a public relations figurehead or spokesperson, and less of a
'ruler'.
proposed 'bylaws'. Instead, I think that the states should organize
themselves, formally or informally, setting
up their own bylaws or guidelines to handle whatever problems they
might have internally. I firmly believe
that the XxGenWeb names... belong to the states... not to USGenWeb...
Each state would be affiliated with the USGenWeb Project by agreeing to
comply with the state and county
minimum requirements as listed below.
1.The NATIONAL page must have:
1.The USGenWeb logo
2.Links to the states in the project
3.Links to the national projects, such as the Archives and
census project.
4.A national mail list where anyone in the project can discuss
the project
5.An announcement only list where news of a national nature can
be given to everyone in the
project at one time.
6.A national page giving the above requirements.
2.Each STATE must have:
1.A link to each county in their state
2.A link to the USGenWeb main page
3.The USGenWeb logo and state logo [if there is one] on their
main page
4.The state coordinators name and email address on their main
page
5.Links to the national projects that include their state
6.A state mail list where the SC and CCs can discuss state
business.
3.Each COUNTY must have:
1.A query page or query system in place
2.The USGenWeb logo and state logo [if there is one] on their
main county page
3.A link to both the USGenWeb and state main page.
4.The CCs name and email address on their main page.
5.Each CC must be subbed to their state mail list.
