Hi,I'm really new to all this but when Debbie asked for a volunteer to take on Spencer
County, I couldn't resist. I live in Southern California, have done most of my adult
life. I'm recently retired, have one married adult daughter and two dogs. I've
been working on my tree sporadically since about 1975 and still have lots to do on it.
Like all of you, I love doing my genealogy and feel sorry for people who aren't into
it! My great grandpa Alex JANES and some of his people moved to Spencer County in 1862 or
1863. He married Elizabeth ROBERTS,whose parents were ROBERTS and OVERLIN, both early
settler families of the county. My grandpa and his Mom, some siblings and uncles moved to
Indian Territory (now Arkansas and Oklahoma)around 1890. I've been to Spencer County a
couple of times but wasn't able to spend enough time there. (IS there ever enough
time?) I hope to go back in the next year or so, but until then, have to do research by
long distance. Last year I took H!
TML 101 from an online "university" and didn't do anything with it
afterwards. Now I've signed up for HTML 201 hoping it will help me with managing the
website, since I know nothing about it, really. I've taken on a lot of things all at
once, but I'm looking forward to getting a lot more info up on the website. If any of
you have any ideas on how to structure time effectively, I'd love to hear
them!PeggySpencer Co. coordinatorTustin, California
