I wanted to revive this list to share ideas, so here goes:
I decided to wake up an old project of mine on the Cass County pages. I had several dozen
obituaries on the site, but many were linked from their respective cemetery page and might
easily be missed by visitors. So I decided I needed an index page for obits and other
news articles. And I needed to actively seek obituaries in particular. So I organized
the obituaries I already had and solicited more by emailing my county list. I have 3 or 4
people sending me obituaries on a regular basis. They will run out eventually, because
they are not local people, but some are typing up the ones that are on the same copy with
their relative's obit in addition to their own relative, so it will surely help
someone.

The library in Cass Co. (at Logansport) is not very user friendly. Most of their books
and microfilm are in locked cabinets and one must find an employee to bring the key and
begrudgingly unlock the cabinet, get the item and relock the cabinet. There are no
obituary files there and no data on their meager website either. And they don't like
doing lookups either. And the genealogical society folded last year. (That's a whole
other story! arghh!!) So I feel that the obituary index on the website will help fill the
gap.
