My name is Kate Robertson. I was born in Virginia and grew up in Tippecanoe County,
Indiana. My father was born there also. About 5 years ago, my aunt was taking a trip to
Ireland and wanted to know what county our ancestor Patrick O'Connor was from. I
figured with the help of the internet I would have the info by the end of the week. Well,
I am still looking -my brick wall! And along the way I have learned that my family
(Morris) came to Indiana about 1804 to Clark County and basically stayed there and in
Floyd County until this day. There was a short foray into Orange County from 1858-1867. It
seems that my family followed the building of the railroad in the mid 1800's coming
from the east coast. This continued when my grandfather left Scottsburg in the early
1900's and took a job in Lafayette with the "new" Monon Shops. I am most
interested in learning more about Clark and Floyd County. And I would like to know more
about Cairo, a vanished village in Tippecanoe County. !
My challenge is to discover how Patrick got to Clark County and wed in 1850. I live in
southern California and now have my parents living with us. I have had so much fun
"digging" and have turned up some "cousins" in the Louisville area
that are tickled pink about genealogy. Otherwise, the rest of my family thinks I'm
obsessed! I am glad this had been re-activated.
