Beth - thank you for your update. A few of us had seen the resignation
announcement of Bob but the last part of your email is very new to me. As
you know I was appointed to fill Holly's position and declined..
I know the board has had serious thought in regard to these options. After
the resignation of Bob - I became very discouraged . I had encouraged and
nominated excellent people for the board.
At the present time - I am working with my coordinators from Indiana to make
our InGenWeb a good research tool for the internet more better than before
and staying away from the National politics.

Subject: [USGenWeb-NE-L] Update and some questions
This list, which was designed to be a means of communication between
the
county and state coordinators of the Northeast/North Central Region and
their regional representatives on the Advisory Board has been VERY quiet.
So this is just a quick note to let you know what has been going on over
the
last few weeks.
The USGenWeb Advisory Board was supposed to be on "vacation" over the
holidays. However, due to the resignation of the interim National
Coordinator, Bob Bamford, as well as the resignation of the
Northwest/Plains
Region State Coordinator Representative Teresa Davis, the board has
had to
meet in emergency session. Following you will find the minutes of that
meeting. ( They should be posted on our web page soon. )
MINUTES OF USGENWEB PROJECT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING
The Advisory Board of the USGenWeb Project met in emergency session on
Monday,
December 21, 1998, at 7:00 PM (CST). This meeting was called because Bob
Bamford, Acting National Coordinator has submitted his resignation:
"Genealogy is a hobby, we all enjoy the research, the contacts, the
comradery and the thrill of the search. All of us, as a part of that hobby,
volunteer in various genealogical and historical organizations, to both
further our knowledge of the hobby and make a contribution to its
furtherance. It can be fun and rewarding but unlike the work we do to gain
our livelihood it provides no remuneration save that of having made a
contribution.
"When this volunteerism reaches a point that it is no longer rewarding, no
longer provides satisfaction, but instead becomes a burden, it is time to
disassociate yourself from those organizations that no longer provide any
benefit.
"I therefore submit my, unequivocal, resignation from all positions in the
national USGenWeb organization, effective immediately, and direct said
organization to immediately remove my name and e-mail address from all
national pages. I will be unsubbing from all national mailing lists,
immediately upon confirmation that this message has been received."
A quorum being present, Kay Mason, acting as temporary chair, called the
meeting to order. Jan Craven moved to accept Bob Bamford's resignation.
Kathy
Heidel seconded.

Another issue of importance at this time is the upcoming election. There
are a number of seats open on the advisory board, and I encourage all of
you
to visit Election Central to peruse the nominees. There is still time
to
nominate someone for a position :-)
We are hoping that members of this region will use this list to communicate
the needs and wants of the county coordinators and the state coordinators
to
the advisory board. Because there seems to be some controversy about
the
project, we would like you to view the 5 statements below and let us know
what you think.
1. I would like to become more actively involved in the project
committee
member, etc)
2. I wish to
see the current Advisory Board continue to direct the
USGenWeb Project.
>3. I wish the current Advisory Board would resign and
a new Advisory
>Board
> would be elected.
4. I wish to see the Advisory Board disbanded and only have a
National
Coordinator as the head of the USGenWeb Project.
>5. I wish to see the
