What a blessing to receive so many kind and wonderful email letters from so
many people involved in the UsGenWeb about the recognition award from the
Kentucky Genealogical Society. I wish to thank you all and thank you also
for your prayers for Bill and myself.
I encourage everyone to exercise your right to vote in the UsGenWeb Election
for what you feel in your heart.
I nominated NANCY TRICE for National Coordinator and I firmly believe she is
an excellent choice. I have been involved in the Southeast/Mid Atlantic
Region as a county coordinator since 1996 and hope at some time I have been
able to help you in someway with your research. I also have been nominated
as a representative from that region along with my good friends JOHN G. WEST
and BILL UTTERBACK.
Yes we have the right to either vote "no" or "yes" for the bylaw's
that have
been proposed. Deep in my heart I CANNOT vote 'yes' for these bylaw's...
I firmly believe in the USGenWeb Project beginning at the county level. I
will again repeat - I believe in placing my information and working hard on
my county pages , providing census information, uploading queries, cemetery
records, obituaries, bible records etc and then linking to the adjoining
counties, linking at the state level and linking then at the national level.
There is an old bridge in Trigg County on the Jackson Road. I've heard
about this bridge many times. My daddy returned to Trigg County after being
in service in Hawaii for seven years. In 1933 as a newly wed he helped
build that bridge. I crossed the bridge recently going to the cemetery.
Along with my Daddy's hands, the fellow men and years of dedication that
bridge still stands. I cannot build a bridge 'manually' from my county to
the next - but in my heart and with the labor of my hands I can help others
and provide information.
A wonderful man named Pat Oliver has five of the adjoining counties and has
been my help and stay in providing information. Our counties link to
KyGenWeb counties that are proud and working hard. KyGenWeb is so very
proud to be part of the founding movement for the UsGenWeb Project.
UsGenWeb
two years ago was a tiny babe in a crib and it's been wonderful to see this
babe grow. I'm proud of the bridge that links each state throughout the
nation together.
Among the congratulations yesterday was an email from Melissa Shreve-Owen
who is a young county coordinator from Union County, Ky.- She's hard at
work transcribing the 1850 Christian Co Census for the Ky Census project and
sent me a sneak preview. Ladies and Gents' - this is what it is all about!
This award came at a time that it has been very 'uplifting'.... Most of you
knew Bill chose to be taken off the transplant list about nine months ago.
He was fearful of the transplant and had lived longer than most that had had
it. I abided by his wishes. Upon hospitalization last week he found it was
a matter of a few months and has agreed to transplant. I told him we would
go thru this together and I would be there. However there will not be two
of us - there will be three. Bill, myself and the Lord.
